
Michael was admitted as a solicitor in December 1957. During his 50 years in the profession he has built up a wide knowledge in most aspects of general practice. He was appointed Chairman of the Social Security Appeals Tribunals in 1974, a position he held until retirement in 2004. In his capacity as an Appeals Chairman he dealt with medical disabilities, child support assessments and the complete range of welfare benefits. He is the firm’s advisor on all these matters.
In addition he undertakes property and commercial development work and was at one time the firm's main advocate in the Magistrates' and County Courts and other tribunals. He is the current advisor on licensing.
He is probably the only local solicitor to have been born and to have worked exclusively in Farnborough.
He has been President of the Farnborough Chamber of Commerce on two occasions, a member of the Board of Management of Knellwood Old People’s Home and a past President of the Rotary Club of Farnborough. He has also served on numerous other committees and is the clerk to the Farnborough (Hampshire) Welfare Trust.
